Since 2017, REDHAC, through its Permanent Secretariat, has started work aimed at the adoption of a law protecting HRDs in the DRC. Later, that is to say in 2021, other human rights organizations joined this project, how important it is for the protection of HRDs; These include, among other things:

• Protection International
• Development Center for the Self-Promotion of Pygmies and Disadvantaged Indigenous Peoples
• The REDHAC DRC country coalition.

All stakeholders mobilized through advocacy leading to the adoption on June 14, 2023 and the promulgation on October 30 of the same year of the law on “Protection and Responsibility of HRDs in the DRC”.
