The Network of Human Rights Defenders in Central Africa (REDHAC) is a sub-regional network which at the beginning had 10 countries, including Rwanda and Burundi, today, the Network has 8 countries in Central Africa (because that Rwanda and Burundi have joined the East African community and joined the Network of Human Rights Defenders of the Horn and East Africa), REDHAC has set up 8 Coalitions, it has within it the Defenders s individuals, human rights lawyers, etc… REDHAC’s mission is the promotion and protection of Human Rights, Fundamental Freedoms, and respect for Democracy through the African Charter of Democracy, Elections and Governance in Africa (CADEG), the promotion and protection of Defenders in Central Africa with particular emphasis on Women Defenders, LGBTI Defenders, and other Human Rights Defenders Vulnerable (DDHV), and the involvement in sustainable peace and reconciliation in the sub-region since the adoption of the REDHAC strategic action plan during its 2019 General Assembly.
