• REDHAC leads international advocacy to adopt laws promoting and protecting Human Rights Defenders for the recognition of the status of defenders and other activists in accordance with the United Nations Declaration on Defenders adopted by all countries in December 1998

  • To bring states to scrupulously respect treaties, conventions and other freely signed and ratified instruments on human rights, humanitarian law and fundamental freedoms

Notably :

  1. Regular referral to the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the relevant situation of Human Rights Defenders in Central Africa by proposing recommendations
  2. Submission of alternative reports in 2017 to the Universal Periodic Review on Cameroon, in 2014 on Chad and the CAR and in 2018 intervention by REDHAC for a declaration on the recommendations of the Human Rights Committee on corruption Extrajudicial executions (1), torture and cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment (2), freedom of expression and assembly, protection journalists and human rights defenders.
  3. The European Parliament: During the holding of the European Parliament in May 2019, REDHAC proposed resolutions on Cameroon All the proposed resolutions had been adopted
  4. Human Rights Council: During the meeting of the United Nations Human Rights Council held from January 4-7, 2018 in Geneva, REDHAC was invited to make an evaluation of Human Rights in Cameroon in relation to objective criteria. a recommendation and a resolution had been proposed for adoption.
  5. A Recommendation for the HRC to urge the State of Cameroon to respect freedoms of assembly and association, to stop all reprisals targeting defenders and journalists, to stop the abusive use of military courts and Law No. 2014 /028 of December 23, 2014 on the ”repression of acts of terrorism” and finally to demonstrate political will by adopting the law ”on the promotion and protection of human rights defenders”.
  6. A Resolution for the HRC to call for an independent and international fact-finding mission following relevant and recurring allegations of summary and extrajudicial executions in the fight against Boko Aram (emblematic cases of Magdeme and Double villages (at least 52 people) 2015 then 2 women executed with their babies on their backs in Mayo Tsanaga in 2018) as well as in the English-speaking regions of the North West and South West (since October 1, 2017 to the present day including the events of Pigni 2018 and the assassinations of the gendarmes).

World Liberty Congress Vilnius, Lithuania: The Executive Director, Ms. Maximilienne NGO MBE participated in the World Liberty Congress from December 6 to 10, 2022 in Vilnius, Lithuania; The main goal of the World Liberty Congress is to bring together pro-democracy leaders and movements under autocratic regimes, to learn and support each other in specific action-oriented areas. During the Congress, participants worked around six areas that were developed after extensive consultations and cooperation with freedom-fighting movements around the world.
